Anders R. Andersen

Fargo, North Dakota

was born on July 24, 1895 in Tvedestrand of Parents Chr. Andersen and Emilie Andersen, (He was born Aanonsen). His father died in the year 1904 and his mother in 1915. He has two brothers and three sisters that live in Norway.

Anders began as a a young boy to learn the book printing craft, but as with most young boys that live on Norway’s coast, he became gripped with lust to plow "a large wavy sea, " when he was only a little over 15 years old and the he sailed for 2 or 3 years time. He was discharged in New York on December 9, 1913 from the steamship "Felix", belonging to Grefstad & Herlofsen in Arendal. He moved to his sister's child, H. A. Egeland, and lived in Thief River Falls, Minnesota and worked as a a carpenter, and went to school there in the winter. He got work at the "Vesterheimen" in Crookston, Minnesota where he also became trained as a linotype-operator. He works now for Ulsaker Printing Company Fargo, North Dakota.
