Lars A. Bakkum

Mayville, North Dakota

is a farmer. He was born in Ringebu on December 19, 1842 and emigrated to America in 1868 to La Crosse, Wisconsin and lived there for seven years. He came to Traill County in 1875. He took a homestead in Norway Township and lives on the farm.

His wife, Johanne Lokken, is from Ă˜ier. They have eight children. One of the sons, Bernhard Bakkum, is on the farm. Kristian Bakkum is in the machinery business in Mayville, North Dakota. The youngest son, Peter Bakkum, goes to the Normal School in Mayville, North Dakota. When one reads my articles in “Fram” - "From the Northwest" Bakkum said that he heard from many people with much interest which led me to have my work arranged to assemble family and settlement history simultaneously
