Nils Melaas

Mayville, North Dakota

was born in Winnishey County, Iowa on April 3, 1867. His father, Johannes Melaas, came from Hadeland and his mother, Gunhild Blekaberg, was from Sigdal. Both are now dead. He came to Hatton, North Dakota 27 years ago. He moved to Mayville one year later and has since lived here as a commercial traveller, first for Elken Bros and later for the Buffalo Traeske Company. He was one of the many candidates for sheriff in Traill County, North Dakota in the Primary election in 1916.
