Pastor M. B. Sveen

Portland, North Dakota

was born in Biri on January 9, 1860 and emigrated to America in 1881 to Lafette County, Wisconsin. He was educated at the Red Wing Seminar. He went there until 1885. After that he went to Augsburg, Semirar until 1838. He was ordained as a priest that same year. His first calling was Benson, Minnesota. He was there for 15 years and then went to Atwater, Minnesota for seven years. He came to Portland, North Dakota in 1907 as a United Church Priest.

His wife, Kirsten Marie Steenhough, is from Telemarken. They have two daughters. Bertha Mathilde is married to John Heskin of Portland, North Dakota. Clara Josefine is married to John Jensen of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin
