Pekin, North Dakota

He came to Pekin, North Dakota when the town started and has been the Postmaster since 1908. His wife, Berthine Opoien, was born in America of Norwegian parents in Nelson County, North Dakota. They have three children.
All three Post Offices operating in Pekin, North Dakota are Norwegian. Ludvig B. Holden was born in Nelson County, North Dakota. His parents, Halvor J. Holden and Sofie Holden, have a farm four miles from Pekin, North Dakota. Of the other two, Lars Paulson and Robert Broste, since I did not have the chance to visit with them when I was in Pekin, North Dakota I will therefore provide more information about them in Part II.
