Aneta, N. D
is from Nordfjording. He was born in Selje on October 2, 1877, was only 2 1/2 years when his parents emigrated to America in 1880 to Benson Minnesota. His father, Peter, took a homestead in Pope County Minnesota and lived there until he was 21 years old. He came to Aneta in 1910.
His wife, Ella Jansen, is a Norwegian-American woman. Her parents emigrated from Nordland.
Hamre is very capable photographer and he donated several of the pictures that are found in Hoverstad’s Book: "Norwegian Farmers in the U. S." and before I completed my assemblage of pictures for Norwegians and Norwegian Home in America, I got the opportunity to obtain several of Hamre’s photographs of Aneta and the surrounding area.
