is from Soknedalen, S. Trondhjems District and emigrated to America in 1872 to Menonomie, Wisconsin. He moved to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin where he lived for two years. He moved from there to Stillwater, Minnesota where he lived for five years. He went to the Kristiania Settlement near Kindred, North Dakota in 1880 and lived there as a farmer in 24 years, He moved to Fargo, North Dakota in 1900 and has since lived there.

His wife, Oline Wammer, is dead and was from Trygstad, six miles from Kristiania. They have seven children, two daughters and five sons. Minni and Lilly are at home. William Hoff is a painter and lives in Fargo, North Dakota. He is married to Clara Aaby from Twin Valley, Minnesota. Her father Chr. Aaby is a veteran of the civil war. Millard Hoff is working with Northern Express Company in Fargo, North Dakota. Oliver Hoff is in Chicago, Illinois and is working in a hotel. Hartwig Hoff is Express Messenger at Northern Pacific in Billings, Montana. G. J. Hoff is a businessman in Fargo, North Dakota. He received his education at the Normal School in Moorhead, Minnesota, and at the Agricultural College in Fargo, North Dakota. He received his business Education at the Minneapolis School of Business. He started his own business in groceries in Fargo, North Dakota in 1913 and has a very good business. He has taken much interest as a Synod Parish worker. He is very interesting Norwegian and is one of the most capable younger businessman in Fargo, North Dakota.
