Pekin, North Dakota
is a farmer. He was born in Hoilandet on July 7, 1879 and emigrated to America in 1880. His father, Halvor Klefstad, and his mother, Anne Krogstad, are both from Trondelasten. They came to Chippewa County Minnesota and lived there for two years and then moved to Griggs County. He came to Nelson County in 1885 and took a homestead in Bergen Township. The farm is now owned by Andrew Klefstad. His mother is dead and his father, who is 83 years old, lives with him.
His wife, Emma Fretheim, was born in Allamakee County, Iowa of Norwegian parents. They have two sons.
