Clifford, North Dakota
was born in Gudbrandsdalen on October 16, 1862 and came to America in 1867 to Coon Valley along with his Parents. In 1882 he came to Traill County North Dakota and settled in Clifford, North Dakota where he lives at this time. He operates a Mercantile and hardware store and has a part interest in farming. He has seven children. In 1903 he represented his District in North Dakotas Legislature in the House. In 1905 and 1907 he was Member of State senate and was Lieutenant Governor from 1913 to 1915. In the Primary election in June of 1916 he was the Republican Candidate for Lieutenant Governor. He has always worked and voted for sound progressive legislation and is a strong supporter of the Prohibition Law.
