Pekin, North Dakota
was born in America of Norwegian parents in Allamakee County, Iowa on September 18, 1872. He came to Fargo as a little boy. His parents, Lars and Beret Stenslie, are from Trondelagen. They moved later to Norman County, Minnesota. They went to Nelson County, North Dakota in 1882 and took a homestead in Hamlin Township and live there at this time. He has lived in Pekin since 1910 and has the pool hall.
His wife, Eli Klefstad, is from Trondelagen. They have six children. Her father, Halvor Klefstad, has a farm near Pekin, North Dakota and is one of the oldest settlers in that area.
