Pastor E. C. Tollefsen

Chicago, Illinois

was born in Aa, Ibestad, on January 26, 1867. He was only six months old when he came to America. His father, Ole Johan Tollefsen, died in 1906. His mother, Anna Marie Tollefsen, lives in Tacoma, Washington.

His wife, Ellen Berntsen, is a sister of Pastor Berntsen in Fargo, North Dakota. She is from Flekkefjord and emigrated to America when she was 16 years old. They have five children. He went to Augsburgs Seminar from 1885 to 1886 and fro 1892 to1895 (C.T.). He was a Priest in the Free Church from 1895 to 1909 and since then in the United Church. He was a Priest in Neenah, Wisconsin from 1895 to 1898; Brooklyn New York from 1898 to 1902; Clintonville, Wisconsin from 1902 to 1903 and in Escanaba, Michigan from 1903 to 1905. He was a head master at the Brooklyn deaconess home from 1905 to 1909. He was in Finley, North Dakota from 1909 to 1916 and since the fall of 1916 he has been in Chicago, Illinois, as a city commissioner.
