is a farmer. He was born in Faaberg on January 12, 1852 and emigrated to America in 1875 to Zumbrota, Minnesota and lived there for four years as a farmworker. He took a homestead in Traill County, North Dakota near Blanchard in 1879 and has lived as a farmer in this area since.
His wife, Marianne Gulbrandsen, is from Gausdal. They have eleven children. Three grown sons, Gudbrand, Peder and Gunnar are on the farm. Kristian and Edwin operate a farm nearby.
